Tesco Visit

We had an amazing time visiting Tesco's thanks to Phoebe the Tesco Community Worker.  We got to go to places that most people haven't seen.

We got to work on the checkouts, look in the cooler and freezer, taste cheese and bread.  We even found out about fish!

Thank you Phoebe.

Chinese New Year - Year of the Dog

The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Chinese New Year Festival.

Look at some of their amazing work, including their Dragon Dance.

The Easy Cheesy Nativity

The children have performed their Nativity to the whole school and parents/carers.

We can not believe that the children in Lionfish and Starfish have now nearly completed their first term at Archbishop Wake.  They have settled in amazingly.

Vet Visit!

Another Wow day for Lionfish and Starfish as we welcomed Mr Harding, a local vet. He bought with him Cassie the dog, a lizard and some lizard eggs. We learnt about how to check if a dog is healthy, how lizards move, looked at photographs of different animals and some X-rays! The children listened well and asked lots of sensible questions. Mrs Hicks came in too and stroked Cassie (she really loves animals!) As always, we are incredibly proud of how well the children welcome all our visitors. Well done Starfish and Lionfish!

Another Special Visitor!!

As part of our topic "All Creatures Great and Small" we were lucky to welcome another visitor to Lionfish and Starfish. Today, Annie from Monkey World came to talk to us about the work they do to save monkeys. We found out about lots of different monkeys, what they like to eat, how they play and what they look like. The children were amazing and showed a super understanding, asked some excellent questions and listened extremely well. We are all very proud of you Starfish and Lionfish! Annie said you were one of the best group of school children she has visited!

We were very lucky to welcome Miss Jeune to Reception this week. She is an historian and told us lots about fossils and dinosaurs. We even got to touch the fossils and some dinosaur poo! It was really exciting and we learnt lots!

Our trip to Honeybrook Farm!

We had a fantastic day at Honeybrook farm. We saw lots of animals; fed some of them, cuddled some, found out about different eggs and which bird they came from. We had a bumpy tractor ride and saw more animals, saw the different play houses and the play area. Of course, the bumpy pillow was lots of fun!

Today we have been learning about capacity and had great fun using water, sand and a range of other materials to find the capacity of different containers. Ask your child to explain their understanding!
